You’re probably just like this never satisfied actor
Katia Winter?
No?
No…
I read this story about her, which was a bit sad but also very typical.
She’s not your Scarlet Jo, Emma Thompson or Zendaya. But she gets around. She’s been on “Sleepy Hollow”, “Dexter”, “Blood & Treasure”, “Legends of Tomorrow”, “The Boys”.
Sorry Katia, I haven’t seen them, but it sounds like a solid list.
But now…
Now she’s nominated best Swedish actor.
She really gets around!
And that was the thing.
When asked if there was a point when things were starting to happen to her career, she shook her head “no”.
No, instead she said: “for the last 20 years, I’ve kept working, got better and better roles, got older. And less impressed.”
During the same period she prioritized work, lived far away from family, haven’t had time to start her own family, and so on.
All while “getting older and less impressed”
I don’t want to go full “carpe diem” with you here.
But if you’re gonna go and be an award-winning actor, make sure to pat yourself on the shoulder once in a while.
Celebrate a few victories.
If you hadn’t heard about Katia before reading this, maybe you’ve heard about the “hedonic treadmill”?
No?
No…
It’s “a theory positing that people repeatedly return to their baseline level of happiness, regardless of what happens to them”.
You run and run and run, but getting nowhere.
You just get older and less impressed.
Don’t.
